Vacations in Sunny Beach resort

Sunny Beach is undoubtedly the preferred vacation spot of hundreds of thousands of tourists yearly. The many attractions, entertainment venues, pristine beaches and rich historical points of interests nearby are among some of the reasons they choose the resort over others and place it as the ultimate vacation spot. One of the benefits of Sunny Beach is that it presents wonderful opportunities for side vacations to nearby areas, towns, cities and resorts.

Nessebar is a must see while in Sunny Beach! The present day town, with its winding, cobble streets, small port and antique remains has a unique charm and has left a mark on all who have visited it. It is the successor of a Thracian fishing settlement which dates back to 2 B.C and later grew to a Greek town state of significance and power.  Most of the present day remains are of churches built around the first century B.C. Today, the main places of interest are: The Old Bishop’s Residence at the centre of the town, St. Stefan Church, the St. Todor Church, the St. John Aliturgetos Church and the remains of the fortress walls which are at the old town’s main entrance. Because it is an esteemed cultural heritage site, protected under UNESCO, the buildings in the old town of Nessebar all represent the typical Bulgarian Revival style and even the streets below one’s feet are authentic medieval Roman and Greek pavements.

St. Vlas was a sleepy village tucked between the foot of the Balakan Mountain range and the sea, but has in recent years become an inevitable, prominent part of the Sunny Beach resort. The natural slope of the terrain permits stunning panoramic views of the Sunny Beach/ Nessebar bay from almost everywhere in the town. The largest marina on the Balkan Peninsula (Marina Dinevi) is located in St. Vlas and is a depiction of worldly class and elegance which must be seen and even experienced by going on one of the yacht trips with BBQ which are organized daily.

Only some 35 km. to the south lays the fourth largest city in Bulgaria- Bourgas. Although a metropolitan city in every sense, it is has always carried a romantic spirit and has nourished many artists and creative personas. It is also a sea side city which offers excellent sightseeing opportunities and first rate shopping. The Sea Park, the malls, the Ethnographic museum, the Museum of Nature and Science, the pedestrian shopping boulevards, the port, the St. St. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral and the many art galleries are among some of the places to visit while there.
